Workday, Inc. has announced a €175 million investment to establish an AI Centre of Excellence in Dublin over the next three years. The initiative will create 200 specialized roles and expand the company’s research and development operations across Europe. The project is supported by IDA Ireland.

The new centre will focus on four main areas: product development, AI upskilling, academic partnerships, and collaboration with Irish technology companies. More than 200 new roles will be added in AI, cybersecurity, engineering, and research to enhance Workday’s AI platform, Workday Illuminate. The company currently employs 2,200 people in Ireland, with about 80% working in product R&D.

Through its AI Business Academy, Workday will partner with Technology Ireland Digital Skillnet to upskill 300 employees. The company has also collaborated with TU Dublin to provide AI-related certifications to over 285 employees. Academic partnerships with Trinity College Dublin, Dublin City University, and Research Ireland will embed post-doctoral researchers within Workday’s R&D teams.

Workday will also partner with Irish AI startups and scale-ups through the Workday Innovation Network, created with Enterprise Ireland, to advance joint projects with companies such as Wrksense and Workhuman. To support its growth, Workday will open a new EMEA headquarters at College Square in Dublin, featuring a Customer Experience Centre for collaboration with European clients.
