CGI Opens Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Portugal

CGI has announced the creation of an Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Portugal, focusing on Agentic and Generative AI to support digital transformation across Europe.

CGI announced in a press release the establishment of a new Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Portugal. The center will focus on Agentic AI and Generative AI, helping clients across Europe accelerate digital transformation and achieve measurable business outcomes.

The facility will become operational in early May and will be integrated into CGI's existing operations in Portugal, which include over 2,000 professionals. It will expand the company’s capacity to design, build, and run AI enabled solutions at scale for clients in multiple markets including Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

CGI stated that the new center will also strengthen ties with Portugal’s academic community through partnerships with universities and higher education institutions. These collaborations aim to support talent development and foster innovation in AI.

From Portugal, CGI will deliver AI solutions for banking, healthcare, utilities, and service management. The company’s teams will focus on projects involving intelligent agents, computer vision, decision support models, and process optimization.
