Anthropic Expands London Presence with New Office for 800 Staff
Anthropic is expanding its presence in London with new office space designed for up to 800 employees, reports CNBC. The move comes shortly after OpenAI announced its first permanent London office.
The new site will be located in London’s Knowledge Quarter, an area that also hosts AI-focused organizations including Google DeepMind, Meta, Synthesia, and Wayve. Anthropic currently employs around 200 people in London and described the city as one of its key research and commercial hubs outside the United States.
Pip White, Anthropic’s head of EMEA north, said the expansion gives the company room to grow in a region with strong AI research institutions and talent. The announcement follows a reported effort by UK officials to attract the company after its dispute with the U.S. Pentagon.
Anthropic has recently gained attention for launching its coding agent Claude Code and the Mythos AI model, which identifies software vulnerabilities. The company reached a $380 billion valuation in February and reported an annual run rate exceeding $30 billion, with more than 1,000 enterprise clients spending over $1 million each year.
