Unitree Robotics is forming a joint venture with Kunlun Manufacturing and Beijing Fanjie Intelligent Technology to develop industrial embodied AI robots, according to Global Times. Kunlun Manufacturing, an energy equipment platform under China National Petroleum Corporation, will own 60 percent of the venture, while Unitree and Fanjie will each hold 20 percent.

The venture will combine Unitree's quadruped and humanoid robot hardware with AI models from Fanjie. It will develop systems for inspection and emergency response at oilfields, refineries, storage facilities, gas stations and charging and battery swapping stations.

The robots are intended to operate around explosive atmospheres, high temperatures and toxic substances. The venture is undergoing a simplified antitrust review, with public comments open from November 4 to 13.
