UNC Health Implements AI-Powered ShiftMed Flex for Workforce Optimization
UNC Health has successfully launched the ShiftMed Flex platform, doubling internal workforce engagement and reducing reliance on external staffing, according to a press release by ShiftMed. The AI-powered platform has been rolled out across UNC Health's 258 clinics, significantly enhancing workforce scheduling and participation.
ShiftMed Flex utilizes AI-powered Intelligent Routing™ to align clinicians' availability with open shifts, prioritizing internal resources over external staffing options. This approach has led to a 100% increase in shifts worked, with internal float pool participation doubling as staff increased their average shifts from four to eight per month.
The platform offers advanced features such as mobile credentialing, onboarding, instant payment technology, and the ShiftMed Rides module, which integrates Uber for clinician transportation. These features have streamlined the scheduling process, providing real-time visibility and functionality that encourages staff to take on more shifts.
Building on the success of its clinic launch, UNC Health plans to expand ShiftMed Flex to inpatient sites and develop an external per diem pool to further enhance coverage and care delivery across its network.
