MontoHealth Develops AI Agents for Healthcare Administrative Work

Oct 2, 2026
MontoHealth is developing AI agents that can complete routine healthcare tasks across existing systems, including scheduling, referrals, prescription refills, billing and insurance requests.

MontoHealth said in a press release it is developing AI agents that can complete routine healthcare tasks across existing software. The system will connect patient communication with electronic health records, scheduling tools, billing platforms and patient portals.

Initial uses include changing appointments, routing prescription refills, coordinating referrals, handling billing and insurance questions, responding to requests outside business hours and supporting communication in multiple languages.

The agents will operate with defined permissions and involve staff when judgment or approval is required. MontoHealth remains under development and is inviting a limited group of healthcare organizations to test early capabilities through its Founding Physician Pilot Program.
