OpenAI Releases GPT-Rosalind-6 for Approved Biology Researchers

Oct 31, 2026
GPT-Rosalind-6 uses the same weights as GPT-6 Astra and is available through trusted access for approved life sciences research.

OpenAI released GPT-Rosalind-6 for approved scientists, research institutes, companies and government partners, as detailed in a system card addendum. The model supports research in biology, drug discovery and translational medicine through a trusted access program.

GPT-Rosalind-6 uses the same weights as GPT-6 Astra, without additional training data or further model training. OpenAI says it has fewer refusals on dual use biological queries, while still refusing requests for biological weaponization.

At the highest tested reasoning budget, GPT-Rosalind-6 scored 49.6% on a medicinal chemistry benchmark, 37.7% on a genomics and quantitative biology benchmark and 61.3% on an applied life sciences benchmark. GPT-Rosalind-5.5 scored 28.9%, 16.7% and 44.0%, respectively, on the same tasks.

OpenAI classifies GPT-Rosalind-6 as High capability in the Biological and Chemical domain and, relying on GPT-6 Astra's assessments, Critical in Cybersecurity. None of its four Critical biological capability evaluations reached the relevant threshold. Access requires a review of each applicant's research plans, governance and security controls, while approved customers must restrict use to authorized users and apply qualified human review to outputs.
