The9 Reports Record Quarterly Profit as the9bit Reaches 8 Million Users
The9 Limited said in a press release that it reported net income of US$23 million for the three months ended March 31, 2026, its strongest quarter since its 2004 IPO.
The company said the result was driven mainly by digital asset related income, including the receipt of 1.425 billion 9BIT tokens during the quarter. It received another 475 million 9BIT tokens in April, which will be reflected in second quarter results. The company said its total cryptocurrency holdings, including BTC and 9BIT, were valued at about US$110 million based on quoted market prices as of the announcement date.
The9 also said the9bit, its AI powered game creation platform, has passed 8 million registered users since launching in August 2025. Users have created more than 110,000 games with the platform.
The company said it is building the9bit into a production operating system for interactive entertainment that uses AI agents, foundation models, and development workflows. It said an AI producer agent can turn a natural language prompt into a development plan and direct more than 60 specialized AI agents across the production pipeline, with the system designed to create playable experiences in as little as 10 minutes.
The9's board approved an incentive plan under which senior management may receive equity awards representing up to 12% of outstanding shares. The awards vest only if the company reports higher quarterly net income in each of the remaining three quarters of 2026 compared with the first quarter.
