Konami President Says AI Will Not Reshape Games Market
Konami Digital Entertainment president Hideki Hayakawa says generative AI is unlikely to drastically change the games market, according to TechPowerUp. He said general purpose game engines and user generated content have already lowered barriers to game creation.
Hayakawa said AI could improve production efficiency, but people and creators remain the most important factors in making entertaining games. He also credited collaboration among people with different backgrounds for producing new gameplay ideas.
Konami helps creators learn about new technologies and assess potential risks before using them. Hayakawa described technological change as an opportunity, indicating that the company remains open to AI as a production tool.
