Skydio Commits $3.5 Billion to Expand US Drone Manufacturing
Skydio announced in a press release a $3.5 billion investment to strengthen its manufacturing capacity in the United States over the next five years. The plan includes expanding domestic production, accelerating research and development, and reinforcing American supply chains.
The company expects the initiative to create more than 2,000 new jobs at Skydio and support over 3,000 additional roles across its supplier network. More than $1 billion of the total investment will go to domestic suppliers. Skydio also plans to open a new manufacturing facility in the United States five times larger than its current site.
As part of the expansion, Skydio will launch a program called SkyForge to promote the growth of US-based drone component manufacturing. Selected suppliers will be invited to co-locate production capacity with Skydio, gaining access to production space and engineering support.
Skydio currently manufactures more dual-use drones than any company outside China and has delivered more than 60,000 systems to over 3,800 customers, including US military branches, public safety agencies, and utility companies.
