Saronic Secures $600M for Autonomous Shipyard Development
Saronic Technologies has announced the successful closure of a $600 million Series C funding round, announced in a press release. The funding, led by Elad Gil, values the company at $4 billion and marks a significant step in Saronic's mission to enhance U.S. maritime capabilities.
The funds will be used to establish Port Alpha, a next-generation shipyard designed to produce autonomous ships for the U.S. military's hybrid fleet. This new facility aims to address current gaps in U.S. shipbuilding capacity by delivering medium and large-class unmanned ships at unprecedented speed and scale.
Saronic's CEO, Dino Mavrookas, emphasized the company's commitment to designing vessels for autonomy from the ground up. Port Alpha will reflect this approach, aiming to optimize production processes and create a scalable, efficient shipbuilding system. The initiative is part of a broader effort to revitalize U.S. shipbuilding infrastructure and support the Navy's transition to a hybrid fleet integrating unmanned systems alongside traditional manned platforms.
