Chariot Defense Wins $7.6 Million DIU Contract for Army Tactical Power Systems

Chariot Defense has received a $7.6 million Defense Innovation Unit contract to deliver Amphora hybrid power systems to U.S. Army brigades under the PRISM program.

Chariot Defense announced in a press release that it received a $7.6 million contract from the Defense Innovation Unit under the Portable Resilient Integrated Storage Module program.

The San Bruno company will deliver its Amphora hybrid power systems to U.S. Army brigades this fall. The 12 month contract covers power systems for tactical environments where units use drones, electronic warfare tools, and edge AI compute networks.

Amphora connects with tactical generators, solar arrays, and military vehicles. Chariot Defense says the system can reduce fuel use by up to 60 percent, support silent operation for up to 36 hours, and send tactical energy data into command and control networks.

Chariot Defense was founded in August 2024 and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company has raised $41 million in total venture funding, including a $34 million Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).
