Caterpillar Expands Autonomous Hauling to Two Virginia Quarries

Sep 15, 2026
Caterpillar and Luck Stone will deploy autonomous hauling technology at the Boscobel and Bealeton quarries after trucks moved more than 3.5 million tons at Bull Run Quarry.

Caterpillar and Luck Stone are expanding autonomous hauling to two more Virginia quarries, Caterpillar announced. The deployment follows more than 18 months of autonomous operations at Luck Stone's Bull Run Quarry.

Autonomous trucks have hauled more than 3.5 million tons at Bull Run since operations began in November 2024. The expansion will add Caterpillar's autonomous hauling technology to fleets of Cat 775 trucks at the Boscobel and Bealeton quarries, marking its first deployment on that truck model.

Cat dealer Carter Machinery will support the rollout, which also includes related technology for loaders and other site equipment. Caterpillar said its autonomous trucks have collectively hauled more than 13 billion tonnes and traveled more than 455 million kilometers without reported injuries while operating. Luck Stone said the technology is improving workplace safety and production consistency while creating opportunities for associates to develop new skills.
