Volkswagen Group, Porsche and CARIAD are building a shared autonomous vehicle data system that connects fleet records with simulation, model training and validation, according to a press release from Voxel51. Porsche is leading the initial implementation with Voxel51, NVIDIA and Microsoft.

Voxel51 provides tools for searching, labeling, selecting and validating data. NVIDIA supplies Cosmos Data Factory for preparing and evaluating training data, along with Omniverse NuRec libraries for reconstructing recorded drives. Microsoft Azure provides cloud storage and computing infrastructure.

The first application focuses on virtual validation of driving software releases. The system reconstructs camera inputs from recorded drives and compares simulated results with measurements from vehicles. Voxel51 checks each recording across about 80 measures covering sensors, timing, calibration, trajectories and coordinate systems before reconstruction. The companies expect the system to reduce repeated physical test drives by up to 90% and shorten AI regression testing cycles by up to 85%.
