Samsung SDS Starts 60 MW AI Data Center Project in Gumi
Samsung SDS will build a 60 MW AI data center in Gumi, South Korea, with capacity for expansion to 120 MW, according to The Elec. The facility will occupy a site covering 46,280 square meters and is scheduled for completion at the end of 2028, with operations beginning in March 2029.
Samsung SDS approved an investment of 427.3 billion won for the project in January 2026. The amount covers the building and some facilities but excludes GPU servers and other AI computing equipment.
The center will combine air cooling for network and storage equipment with liquid cooling for dense GPU servers. Samsung SDS plans to provide computing capacity through its own GPU systems and colocation services for customers that install their own equipment.
The facility will also process data and train robots for manufacturing projects at Samsung affiliates. Samsung SDS plans to expand its total AI infrastructure capacity to more than 800 MW by 2031.
