Samsung will deploy Mistral AI models across its semiconductor operations and led the French AI company's Series D funding round.

In a company announcement, Samsung Electronics and Mistral AI said they will develop and deploy AI systems across Samsung's semiconductor operations. The agreement includes customized models based on Mistral's services, including Mistral Large, that will run within Samsung's infrastructure.

Samsung plans to use the models for chip design and manufacturing tasks such as defect detection and equipment optimization. Keeping the systems on premises will allow sensitive technical and operational data to remain within Samsung's semiconductor infrastructure.

Samsung also led Mistral AI's Series D funding round and acquired a strategic equity stake. The companies announced the partnership during a summit between South Korea and France in Paris.
