Cambricon Sales Miss Forecast Amid AI Chip Supply Constraints

Oct 23, 2026
Cambricon reported third quarter revenue of 3.53 billion yuan, below analysts' forecast of 6.26 billion yuan, as chip supply constraints limited output.

Cambricon Technologies reported third quarter revenue of 3.53 billion yuan ($529 million), about twice the previous year's figure but below analysts' forecast of 6.26 billion yuan, according to The Next Web. Net profit rose 148% to 1.4 billion yuan.

The Chinese AI chipmaker maintained its 2026 revenue target of at least 13.5 billion yuan. Its inventory increased by about 3.4 billion yuan during the quarter, nearly matching quarterly sales.

Cambricon and other Chinese chip designers face limited supplies of high bandwidth memory and restricted access to advanced manufacturing equipment. The company makes processors that run models from Chinese AI labs including DeepSeek and Moonshot.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
