PocketLawyers Expands AI Legal Tools Across Africa with New Funding

Nigerian legal tech startup PocketLawyers has secured investment from Nubia Capital to expand its AI-powered legal services across Africa, aiming to streamline legal processes for businesses.

PocketLawyers, a Nigerian legal tech startup, has secured an undisclosed investment from Nubia Capital to expand its AI-driven legal services across Africa. Founded by lawyer Ngozi Nwabueze, the platform aims to reduce the lengthy legal processes that often hinder business growth on the continent.

The startup's flagship product, PocketAI, automates various legal tasks such as research, document drafting, invoicing, and case management, significantly reducing the time required for these processes. Originally launched in 2020, PocketLawyers has evolved from a virtual law firm into a comprehensive platform that supports solo practitioners and small firms with essential tools for efficient practice management.

The recent funding will enable PocketLawyers to scale its operations, secure intellectual property globally, and form strategic partnerships with legal associations. The platform currently supports over 250 lawyers across Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, and plans to expand into at least 10 countries by the end of 2025, starting with Anglophone Africa.

PocketLawyers is part of a growing wave of legal tech startups that are transforming access to justice in Africa and other emerging markets. With Nubia Capital's backing, the company aims to redefine how legal services are delivered, making it easier for businesses to navigate legal challenges efficiently.
