Plus and TIER IV have announced a partnership to develop and deploy Level 4 autonomous trucks in Japan, integrating Plus's AI model with TIER IV's platform.

Plus, a leader in AI-based autonomous trucking software, and TIER IV, known for its open-source software for autonomous driving, have announced a strategic partnership to advance autonomous driving solutions in Japan. In a press release, the companies detailed their plan to integrate Plus's virtual driver AI model with TIER IV's Autoware-based platform to create a customized solution for the Japanese market.

This collaboration aims to address Japan's critical driver shortage by deploying Level 4 autonomous trucks on the country's expressways. The initiative is part of a broader effort led by the Japanese government to expedite the development of autonomous driving technologies. Plus's CEO, David Liu, emphasized the importance of driverless trucks in tackling Japan's acute truck driver shortage and aging population.

The partnership also marks Plus's expansion into the Japanese market, adding to its existing deployments in the United States and Europe. By leveraging TIER IV's experience and proven track record in autonomous vehicle projects, the collaboration is set to pave the way for more innovative and efficient freight transport solutions in Japan.
