Perplexity AI Seeks $1 Billion Funding at $18 Billion Valuation
Perplexity AI is in talks to raise between $500 million and $1 billion in funding, aiming for a post-money valuation of $18 billion, reports Reuters. This potential funding round would double the company's previous valuation of $9 billion.
The AI startup, known for its advanced search engine capabilities, competes with major players like Google's Gemini and Microsoft-backed OpenAI's ChatGPT. Perplexity AI has been enhancing its platform to better compete in the AI search market, including the development of a new web browser, Comet, which leverages AI to perform complex tasks and make decisions.
Despite its growth, Perplexity AI has faced challenges, including accusations of content plagiarism from media organizations. The company has responded by implementing a revenue-sharing model with publishers to address these concerns.
