OpenAI has announced a significant funding achievement, securing $40 billion in a round led by SoftBank Group, as stated in a company blog post. This funding round values OpenAI at $300 billion post-money and is one of the largest private investments in history.

The new capital will enable OpenAI to advance its AI research, expand its compute infrastructure, and enhance the capabilities of its tools, including those used by the 500 million weekly users of ChatGPT. A substantial portion of the funding, approximately $18 billion, is earmarked for the Stargate infrastructure project, which aims to establish a network of AI data centers across the United States.

The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
