Blackstone Expects Anthropic to Receive Junk Credit Rating After IPO
Anthropic is expected to receive a high speculative grade credit rating after its initial public offering, TechCrunch reports, citing the Financial Times. The forecast came from Blackstone, the anchor investor in a recent $63 billion deal to finance Anthropic's chips.
Blackstone now expects Anthropic to receive a rating in the double B range, the highest broad tier below investment grade. The investment firm had previously predicted that Anthropic would receive an investment grade rating before 2027.
The forecast is not an assigned rating. A high junk rating would make it harder and more expensive for Anthropic to raise money for its large compute deals of the past year. Anthropic filed to go public earlier this week. Anthropic and Blackstone declined to comment.
