OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic Approved as Federal AI Vendors
OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic have been added to the U.S. government's list of approved AI vendors for civilian federal agencies, according to Bloomberg. This approval allows these companies to provide their AI tools through the Multiple Award Schedule (MAS), a federal contracting platform that simplifies access to AI services by offering pre-negotiated contracts.
The General Services Administration (GSA), responsible for the MAS, evaluated these tech companies based on security and performance criteria. This initiative is part of a broader AI blueprint aimed at expanding AI exports and maintaining the U.S. technological edge over global competitors. The GSA's approval means federal agencies can now explore a wide range of AI solutions, from basic research assistants to specialized applications tailored to specific missions.
