Google has filed a lawsuit against SerpApi, accusing the company of unlawfully scraping copyrighted content from Google Search results by circumventing security protections. The legal action aims to stop SerpApi’s automated bots, which Google claims disregard website owners’ directives on who may access their material.

According to Google, SerpApi uses deceptive methods such as disguising its bots and rotating identifiers to avoid detection. The company alleges that SerpApi extracts licensed and third-party content, including images and real-time data, and resells it for profit without authorization.

Google stated that it follows industry-standard crawling protocols and respects website restrictions, while SerpApi’s practices override those controls. The company said this type of scraping activity has grown significantly over the past year, prompting it to seek judicial intervention as a last resort to protect content providers and maintain the integrity of its systems.
