Nexi Group and Google Cloud have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop AI agent-based commerce infrastructure across Europe, focusing on secure autonomous transactions and improved operational efficiency.

Nexi Group and Google Cloud have signed a memorandum of understanding to build foundational infrastructure for next-generation digital commerce, announced in a press release. The collaboration aims to enable AI agent-based transactions, allowing autonomous shopping and payment processes authorized by consumers.

Under the agreement, Nexi Group will use Google Cloud technologies to enhance operational efficiency, real-time fraud detection, and merchant onboarding. The partnership combines Google Cloud’s AI and data capabilities with Nexi’s European payment network and acquiring expertise.

Nexi also plans to support open-source commerce standards such as the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) and Agent Payments Protocol (AP2). These efforts are intended to enable secure, agentic shopping journeys where digital intent can be converted into authorized transactions.
