Mozilla Foundation Hosts Copyforward Symposium on AI and Creative Ownership in Los Angeles
Mozilla Foundation will hold Copyforward, a symposium focused on artificial intelligence and creative ownership, in Los Angeles on April 24. The event, announced in a press release, is part of the organization's global Imaginative Intelligences series and will be co-presented with the USC Gould School of Law's Center for Sports, Entertainment, Media and Technology and USC's AI for Media and Storytelling program.
Copyforward will take place during the Flux Festival at Blum Gallery. It will bring together artists, filmmakers, legal scholars, and entertainment lawyers to discuss how AI is influencing intellectual property and copyright. Speakers include USC Gould School of Law Professor Doug Emhoff, studio lawyers, and guild representatives.
The symposium builds on Mozilla Foundation's earlier work in Los Angeles, which produced Hollywood's 8 Rules for AI. That framework, developed in collaboration with the Berggruen Institute, outlines design principles for transparent and equitable use of AI in creative industries.
Flux Festival will continue on April 25 with public performances and exhibits from artists such as Andrew Thomas Huang, Tender Claws, Samantha Gorman, and mots. The Los Angeles event is one stop in Mozilla Foundation's global series exploring AI, imagination, and storytelling across major cultural centers.
