Microsoft and Black Tech Street Open Greenwood Cyber and AI Lab in Tulsa

Microsoft and Black Tech Street have opened the Greenwood Cyber and AI Lab in Tulsa, Oklahoma, announced in a press release. The lab, located in the Greenwood Entrepreneurship at Moton building, is designed as a collaborative hub for artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and autonomous systems research and development.

The Greenwood Cyber and AI Lab is part of the Greenwood AI Center of Excellence, which was established with support from the U.S. Economic Development Administration's Tech Hubs program. Tulsa was designated a Federal Tech Hub in 2024 for leadership in autonomous systems, with $51 million in federal funding awarded to strengthen the region's innovation capacity. Of that amount, $10.6 million was allocated to the Greenwood AI Center of Excellence.

The center is operated by Black Tech Street in partnership with Microsoft and SeedAI. It combines workforce training, education, and applied technology development to support the adoption of AI technologies. The initiative includes two key components: ASPIRE, which focuses on AI education and workforce development, and the Greenwood Cyber and AI Lab, which provides a space for startups, enterprises, and researchers to work with Microsoft engineers on AI solutions.

Initial projects at the lab will target four areas: startup and enterprise innovation, critical infrastructure security, autonomous systems, and responsible AI development.
