Finland Ministry of Defense Partners with ICEYE for Satellite Surveillance
Finland Ministry of Defense has signed a Letter of Intent with ICEYE to acquire Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites, as announced in a press release. This collaboration aims to bolster Finland's intelligence and surveillance capabilities from space.
The agreement includes a preliminary delivery plan and outlines the technical solutions required to establish an autonomous national capability for space-based surveillance. The data from these satellites will provide real-time situational awareness for Finland's national leadership and relevant authorities.
ICEYE, known for operating the world's largest SAR satellite constellation, will supply satellites that offer 25 cm ground resolution, enabling precise object detection and situational awareness in all weather and light conditions. This initiative is expected to play a significant role in the development of Finland's defense capabilities.
