Cigna Healthcare Expands AI Support to Reach More Customers with Early Care
Cigna Healthcare announced in a press release an expansion of its personalized care management programs using AI and predictive analytics to identify customers with complex or chronic health needs earlier. The initiative will extend clinical support to 20% more customers, targeting conditions such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, high risk pregnancy, and behavioral health.
The AI capabilities are designed to highlight opportunities for outreach and connection with clinicians. More than 1,250 Cigna Healthcare clinicians, including nurses and behavioral health specialists, will provide guidance, care coordination, and support to help customers manage conditions and access additional care resources.
Customers who engage in the programs are expected to achieve annual medical cost savings of about $2,000, contributing to an estimated $200 million in total savings over three years. Previous program results include earlier detection of certain cancers by over a month, a 42% reduction in avoidable inpatient stays, and a 72% rate of clinically meaningful improvement in depression symptoms among participants.
The newly integrated AI tools will personalize communication, allowing customers to interact with care teams through their preferred channels, including phone, text, email, and digital platforms.
