UnitedHealthcare Expands Avery AI Assistant to 21 Million Members
UnitedHealthcare is expanding access to its Avery generative AI assistant to 21 million members, according to Fierce Healthcare. The tool was previously available to about 6.5 million members in employer plans and 160,000 Medicare Advantage members.
UnitedHealthcare says Avery resolves 90% of member interactions. It transfers the remaining 10% to a human representative. The assistant answers questions about deductibles, out of pocket maximums, provider networks, pricing and claims processing using data from UnitedHealthcare systems.
The insurer is developing a feature that will let Avery call providers and schedule appointments for members. UnitedHealthcare plans to continue expanding access until the assistant is available to all members.
