October 13, 2025
Bloom Energy has partnered with Brookfield in a $5 billion agreement to deploy solid oxide fuel cell technology across AI data centers worldwide, with a European site expected to be announced later this year.

Bloom Energy has entered a $5 billion partnership with Brookfield to deploy its solid oxide fuel cell technology across AI data centers globally, reports the Wall Street Journal. The agreement marks Brookfield’s first investment under its dedicated AI Infrastructure strategy.

The partnership will focus on designing and delivering AI data centers powered by Bloom’s fuel cells, which generate electricity through electrochemical reactions instead of combustion. A European site is expected to be announced before the end of 2025.

Bloom’s solid oxide fuel cells can operate using natural gas, biogas, or hydrogen, offering a flexible on-site power solution for energy-intensive AI operations. The company has previously signed agreements with Oracle, Equinix, and American Electric Power for similar deployments.

Following the announcement, Bloom Energy’s stock rose about 25%, while Brookfield’s shares gained over 2%.
