Alliance for OpenUSD Expands Membership and Advances 3D Interoperability Standards
Alliance for OpenUSD has announced new general members and technical milestones for its Core Specification during SIGGRAPH 2026, according to a press release. The organization fosters interoperability of 3D content through OpenUSD and is preparing its Core Specification 1.1 for ISO certification.
New members include ByteDance, Huawei, Physicl, and Unity, joining existing members such as Adobe, Apple, Autodesk, Pixar, and NVIDIA. This expansion strengthens collaboration among companies developing 3D ecosystems for enterprise software, gaming, and content pipelines.
AOUSD has begun the ISO certification process for Core Specification 1.1, moving toward international standardization. The certification aims to simplify procurement across manufacturing, automotive, and government sectors that require compliance with global standards.
OpenUSD is gaining adoption as a 3D data layer for AI agents operating in robotics, simulation, and geospatial applications. Member companies demonstrated its use in sessions and labs at SIGGRAPH 2026, covering topics such as USD composition, physically based rendering, and Hydra-based workflows.
