1EdTech Consortium is leading a global collaboration to define how AI can responsibly support teaching and learning, developing an open framework to embed educational context into AI systems.

1EdTech Consortium is leading a cross-sector collaboration to establish a shared framework for responsible use of artificial intelligence in education, announced in a press release. The initiative brings together educational institutions, technology providers, and policy leaders to define how AI can effectively and safely support teaching and learning.

Building on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), the project focuses on embedding trusted educational context into AI tools. This approach aims to improve the relevance and reliability of AI-generated outcomes while maintaining privacy and security for learners and educators.

The consortium is addressing key questions about what educational context AI systems should incorporate and what safeguards are needed to ensure transparency and protection for users. The effort continues through 1EdTech Labs discussion series and technical working groups, where participants will test use cases and develop best practices.

The first 1EdTech Labs Live webinar on this initiative is scheduled for October 23, 2025, and will be open to the public.
