Xpeng Rolls Out First Mass-Produced Robotaxi in Guangzhou
Xpeng has officially rolled out its first mass-produced Robotaxi in Guangzhou, announced in a press release. This marks the first time in China that an automaker has achieved large-scale production of a Robotaxi developed entirely with in-house technology.
Built on the XPENG GX platform, the Robotaxi is designed to meet L4 autonomous driving standards. It uses a pure vision system instead of LiDAR or high-definition maps and is powered by four self-developed Turing AI chips providing 3,000 TOPS of computing power. The vehicle operates on the VLA 2.0 end to end model, which reduces system latency to under 80 milliseconds and supports deployment across different cities and countries.
The Robotaxi features an intelligent cabin with privacy glass, comfort seats, and entertainment screens, allowing passengers to control in-car settings using a voice assistant. Xpeng plans to begin pilot operations in the second half of 2026 to test technical performance and user acceptance, with a goal of achieving fully autonomous service without a safety officer by early 2027.
Xpeng will also open its Robotaxi SDK to ecosystem partners, with Amap named as the first collaborator. The Robotaxi shares its AI model foundation with Xpeng’s humanoid robot IRON and its flying car, advancing the company’s broader physical AI ecosystem.
