Pony AI Robotaxi Orders Rise Over Sixfold During China's Labor Day Holiday

May 08, 2026
Pony AI reported a 544% year-over-year increase in paid robotaxi orders during China's Labor Day holiday, supported by fleet expansion and growing consumer adoption of autonomous rides.

Pony AI reported a major increase in robotaxi demand during China's Labor Day holiday, announced in a press release. Between May 1 and May 5, the company saw average daily paid robotaxi orders rise by 544% compared to the same period last year. Orders also increased 155% compared to the New Year holiday earlier in 2026.

The growth was supported by the expansion of Pony AI's robotaxi fleet, which includes its seventh generation vehicles launched last year. The company said it remains on track to exceed its goal of 3,000 robotaxis by the end of 2026 as it continues to scale production and strengthen partnerships with mobility platforms and automakers.

During the holiday period, Pony AI's robotaxis helped manage transportation for large events in Guangzhou, including the multi-day "Coming-of-Age Ceremony" concert series by Teens in Times. Hundreds of robotaxis operated during peak hours, transporting more than 3,000 attendees and featuring in official city transportation guidance.

The company stated that the strong performance reflects growing consumer confidence in autonomous mobility and the increasing integration of driverless services into daily transportation in China.
