Wirex Joins Visa Agentic Ready Programme for AI Payments in the UK
Wirex has joined the Visa Agentic Ready programme as an issuer, announced in a press release. The collaboration will test and validate how payments initiated by AI agents can be conducted securely and reliably within Visa's global network.
The programme aims to explore how agent-initiated transactions function in real environments in the United Kingdom. It will focus on areas such as Software as a Service, marketing spend optimisation, and corporate procurement automation. The goal is to ensure these payment systems remain secure, compliant, and aligned with consumer expectations of control and transparency.
Wirex will work with Visa and other ecosystem partners to develop trusted models for AI-enabled payments. The company stated that maintaining customer consent and visibility throughout every step of the process will be a key priority.
This partnership builds on Wirex's existing experience in stablecoin infrastructure and digital payment systems, supporting its broader effort to advance AI-driven commerce and agentic transaction models.
