Traversal raised $120 million in Series B funding at a $1 billion valuation to expand its AI tools for investigating software incidents and identifying their causes.

Traversal raised $120 million in Series B funding at a $1 billion valuation, the company said in a blog post. The round was co led by Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures, with participation from Sequoia and Battery Ventures.

Traversal builds AI tools for site reliability engineering. Its Production World Model organizes telemetry, code, deployment history and internal knowledge, while its Causal Search Engine tests possible causes of software incidents. Traversal Workers can begin investigations when incidents or alerts occur, collect context and help engineering teams identify causes and fixes.

The company said monthly investigations increased from 513 to nearly 73,000 so far this year. Customers include Nubank, Harvey, DigitalOcean and PepsiCo, Tech Startups reports. Roughly two thirds of usage now covers tasks beyond root cause analysis, including alert triage, release risk, security and production support.

Traversal will use the funding to hire staff across research, engineering and go to market operations, and to expand the capabilities of its AI site reliability tools.
