Telcos to Generate $21 Billion in GPUaaS Revenue by 2030

ABI Research projects that the telco industry will generate over $21 billion in GPUaaS revenue by 2030, driven by enterprise demand and AI sovereignty needs.

The telco industry is poised to generate over $21 billion in GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) revenue by 2030, announced in a press release by ABI Research. This growth is attributed to the increasing demand for GPU compute by enterprises and the need for AI sovereignty by governments.

As of the first quarter of 2025, 17 telcos have announced or constructed NVIDIA AI factories, which are not only used for internal workloads but also for GPUaaS offerings. These include major players like SoftBank, Reliance Jio, and TELUS. The majority of these AI factories are located in the Asia-Pacific region, with others in Europe and the Middle East and Africa.

ABI Research highlights that while the telco GPUaaS market is still in its early stages, there is significant momentum in building AI infrastructure. The year 2027 is expected to be a turning point for rapid revenue growth in this sector. The development of AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) offerings is also seen as a strategic move for telcos to enhance their value proposition compared to other cloud providers.

NVIDIA plays a crucial role in this expansion, with its AI factories being a key component of the telcos' strategy to support AI workloads and meet the growing demand for GPU compute.
