Sunrise Robotics, a Ljubljana-based robotics startup, has emerged from stealth mode with a significant $8.5 million funding round. The company aims to tackle labor shortages in the European manufacturing sector by providing affordable and quick-to-deploy robotic solutions. These intelligent robotic systems are designed to modernize manufacturing processes, making them more adaptable and future-ready.

Founded by Tomaz Stolfa, Marko Thaler, and Joe Perrott, Sunrise Robotics employs a simulation-first approach to develop robotic cells equipped with dual arms, sensors, and advanced perception systems. These systems are trained using digital simulations of real-world environments, which accelerates deployment and reduces costs. The robots operate as a connected fleet, continuously learning and improving through regular updates.

The funding round was led by Plural, with contributions from Tapestry, Seedcamp, Tiny.vc, and Prototype Capital. The investment will support the expansion of Sunrise Robotics' team across Europe, enhance AI capabilities, and scale production of its robotic solutions. Initial systems are already operational in electronics manufacturing facilities across Europe, with letters of intent signed with over ten customers in various sectors, including supercar development and high-performance batteries.
