Sentient Unveils Open Deep Search Framework

Sentient, backed by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, has launched Open Deep Search, an open-source AI search framework that outperforms competitors like Perplexity and OpenAI's GPT-4o.

Sentient, an AI startup backed by Peter Thiel's Founders Fund, has launched Open Deep Search (ODS), an open-source search framework. The company claims that ODS outperforms major closed-source competitors such as Perplexity and OpenAI's GPT-4o Search Preview in terms of accuracy and transparency. .

Sentient's ODS achieved a 75.3% accuracy score on the FRAMES benchmark, surpassing GPT-4o Search Preview's 50.5% and Perplexity Sonar Reasoning Pro's 44.4%. The framework is designed to provide full access to its underlying algorithms, allowing users and brands to have more control over their search experiences.

The startup is also introducing Sentient Chat, an AI-powered search assistant built on the ODS framework, with 10,000 beta testers and 1.75 million users on the waitlist. Sentient aims to empower developers with open-source "Loyal AI" models, preserving the original intent of their creators while maintaining model openness.

Sentient's approach contrasts with closed systems like OpenAI's GPT-4o and Perplexity, which keep their architecture and data pipelines proprietary. By offering an open-source alternative, Sentient seeks to make AI search more community-driven and transparent.
