LexisNexis Unveils Protégé General AI for Legal Professionals

LexisNexis has introduced Protégé General AI, offering secure access to general-purpose AI models for legal professionals within the Lexis+ AI workflow.

LexisNexis has announced the U.S. customer preview of Protégé General AI, a new addition to its Lexis+ AI workflow solution. This tool provides legal professionals with secure access to general-purpose AI models from multiple providers, including Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 and OpenAI's GPT-5, GPT-4o, and o3. The integration allows users to conduct advanced reasoning and deep research without switching between tools.

Protégé General AI is designed with privacy and flexibility in mind, offering features such as a fully encrypted environment and the ability to choose the most suitable AI model for each task. It also includes a Shepard’s Citation Agent to ensure the accuracy of legal sources. The solution combines general and legal AI capabilities, enabling users to perform a wide range of tasks, from brainstorming to complex legal problem-solving.

Approximately 200 law firms, corporate legal departments, and law schools are participating in the Protégé General AI U.S. Customer Preview Program, with general availability expected later this year. This initiative is part of LexisNexis's ongoing efforts to enhance legal workflows through personalized AI solutions.
