Apple Develops AI 'Answer Engine' to Rival ChatGPT
Apple is reportedly developing its own AI 'answer engine' to compete with ChatGPT, according to Bloomberg. The new team, named Answers, Knowledge, and Information (AKI), is tasked with creating a system capable of responding to questions using information from across the web.
This initiative could lead to a standalone app or enhance search capabilities in existing Apple products like Siri, Safari, and Spotlight. The AKI team is led by Robby Walker, who previously oversaw Siri, and is currently exploring various in-house AI services to develop a ChatGPT-like search experience.
Apple has begun advertising for positions within this team, seeking candidates with experience in search algorithms and engine development. While the project is still in its early stages, it marks a significant step for Apple in the AI-powered search domain, potentially altering its existing search deal with Google.
