SEMI Forecasts Record $125.5 Billion in Semiconductor Equipment Sales for 2025

SEMI projects global semiconductor equipment sales to reach $125.5 billion in 2025, driven by AI and technology transitions.

SEMI has announced that global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment are expected to reach a record $125.5 billion in 2025. This represents a 7.4% increase from the previous year, driven by advancements in AI and leading-edge technology transitions. The growth is anticipated to continue into 2026, with sales projected to hit $138.1 billion.

The Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) segment, which includes wafer processing and fab facilities, is forecast to grow by 6.2% to $110.8 billion in 2025. This growth is largely attributed to increased sales in foundry and memory applications. The back-end equipment segment is also expected to see significant growth, with semiconductor test equipment sales projected to rise by 23.2% to $9.3 billion in 2025.

Regionally, China, Taiwan, and Korea are predicted to remain the top destinations for equipment spending through 2026. However, trade policy risks may affect growth rates across different regions. The forecast is based on data from top equipment suppliers and SEMI's market statistics programs.
