Perplexity AI Introduces Unified Multi-Model System 'Perplexity Computer'

AI company Perplexity AI has introduced Perplexity Computer, a unified system that combines multiple AI models into one platform to execute complex workflows announced on the company's website.

Perplexity Computer functions as a general-purpose digital worker capable of autonomously managing multi-step tasks across applications. Users describe an outcome, and the system divides it into subtasks handled by specialized sub-agents—for example, performing research, generating documents, processing data, or making API calls. Each task runs in an isolated compute environment with access to a real filesystem, browser, and tool integrations.

The system orchestrates several top AI models for specific functions: Opus 4.6 serves as the core reasoning engine, Gemini handles deep research, Nano Banana manages image generation, Veo 3.1 processes video, Grok performs lightweight tasks, and ChatGPT 5.2 supports long-context retrieval and wide search. Users can also assign specific models to individual subtasks based on their needs.

Perplexity Computer is currently available to Perplexity Max subscribers and will soon be accessible to Enterprise Max users.
