Parkinson's Foundation Identifies 2,000 Participants for Neuron23 Trial Through PD Trial Navigator
In a press release, the Parkinson's Foundation announced that its PD Trial Navigator pilot program has identified more than 2,000 potential participants for the NEULARK clinical trial, sponsored by Neuron23. The program aims to accelerate Parkinson's disease research by connecting eligible individuals to clinical trials based on their genetic profiles.
The PD Trial Navigator integrates data from the foundation's PD GENEration study, which since 2019 has provided genetic testing and counseling to over 30,000 people with Parkinson's. Participants who match specific genetic criteria can now be directly connected to clinical trial sites and receive guidance from trained Trial Navigators.
The NEULARK study focuses on individuals who have not yet started dopamine medication and show an overactive LRRK2 pathway, a factor present in about 30% of Parkinson's cases. Through PD Trial Navigator, these genetically suitable participants were identified across multiple regions, supporting Neuron23's precision medicine approach and helping streamline recruitment for the ongoing trial.
