BreakBio Plans Clinic Entry for Personalized Cancer Drugs
BreakBio plans to enter the clinic next quarter with personalized cancer drugs, the company announced in a press release. The company says its platform combines tumor DNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, mass spectrometry immunopeptidomics, and AI analysis to identify targets on each patient’s cancer cells.
BreakBio said its medicines are designed to target both neoantigens and proteins associated with cancer that are not mutated, including cancer testis antigens and embryonic antigens. The company said this is intended to support work in solid tumors with high mutation levels, such as melanoma, and tumors with low mutation levels, such as colorectal cancer.
BreakBio described its program as distinct from individualized neoantigen therapy programs from Moderna and BioNTech, which focus on mutation related targets. Its candidates are peptide medicines tailored to a patient’s cancer and are planned for use with approved cancer therapies.
