OWASP has promoted its GenAI Security Project to flagship status, reflecting the project's expanded focus and industry recognition, announced in a press release. Originally known as the OWASP Top 10 for LLM and Generative AI, the project has grown to include over 600 contributing experts from more than 18 countries and nearly 8,000 active community members.

The OWASP GenAI Security Project is a global, open-source initiative aimed at identifying, mitigating, and documenting security risks associated with generative AI technologies. It provides comprehensive resources, including the LLM Cybersecurity and Governance Checklist and the Agentic AI Threats and Mitigations Guide, to support secure AI development and deployment.

The project has expanded its scope to include governance, risk management, and compliance for LLM deployment, supported by various initiatives and working groups. These efforts are designed to empower organizations, security professionals, and policymakers with actionable guidance and tools for secure generative AI systems.
