OpenAI Introduces GPT-5 with Enhanced Capabilities

OpenAI has introduced GPT-5, its latest AI model, which represents a significant advancement over previous iterations. In a company announcement, OpenAI detailed that GPT-5 offers state-of-the-art performance across various domains, including coding, math, writing, and health. The model is designed to provide expert-level responses by intelligently deciding when to respond quickly or think longer.
GPT-5 is available to all users, with Plus subscribers receiving more usage and Pro subscribers gaining access to GPT-5 Pro, a version with extended reasoning capabilities. This new model is particularly noted for its improvements in reducing hallucinations and enhancing instruction following, making it more reliable for real-world queries.
The model's coding capabilities have been significantly enhanced, allowing it to generate complex front-end designs and debug larger repositories more effectively. Additionally, GPT-5 excels in creative writing, offering improved assistance in drafting and editing tasks. In the health domain, it provides more precise and reliable responses, acting as an informed partner rather than a replacement for medical professionals.
GPT-5 is now the default model in ChatGPT, replacing earlier versions like GPT-4o and OpenAI o3. It is rolling out to all Plus, Pro, Team, and Free users, with Enterprise and Edu access following shortly.
