OpenAI Co-Founder Sutskever's Startup Valued Over $30 Billion
OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever is raising more than $1 billion for his startup, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), at a valuation exceeding $30 billion, according to Bloomberg. This positions SSI among the world's most valuable private technology companies.
The funding round is led by Greenoaks Capital Partners, a San Francisco-based venture capital firm, which plans to invest $500 million. This marks a significant increase from SSI's previous valuation of $5 billion. The company had initially raised funds from investors like Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
SSI, co-founded by Sutskever along with Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, focuses on developing safe AI systems. Despite its high valuation, the company is not generating revenue yet and does not plan to sell AI products in the near future. Sutskever, who played a crucial role in OpenAI's technological advancements, left the company in May 2024 to start SSI.
