GRAIL Reports NHS Galleri Trial Results Showing Fewer Stage IV Cancer Diagnoses
GRAIL announced in a press release full results from its NHS-Galleri trial presented at the 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting. The study evaluated annual screening with the Galleri test across England’s National Health Service over three years, involving 142,250 participants aged 50 to 77.
The trial showed that using the Galleri test reduced Stage IV diagnoses of 12 prespecified cancers by 22 percent in the second screening round and 26 percent in the third. When added to standard care screening, the test led to a fourfold increase in the cancer detection rate and a 25 percent reduction in diagnoses made through emergency presentation.
No statistically significant reduction was observed in the combined primary endpoint of Stage III and IV cancers. The NHS-Galleri trial aims to assess whether early detection through blood-based screening can identify cancers at more treatable stages.
